Welcome to our class
RECEPTION CLASS
Hello,
This is the Reception Class at Heamoor School. There are 21 of us in this class of four year olds, and our teacher is called Mrs Wallis.
Every pupil in this class started school this September and we all attend part time for the Autumn Term and full time for the rest of the year.
Already we have had a lot of fun learning through play; our theme for this term is "Out and About" and "Food".
Of course we have learnt to find our way around our modern light and busy school. The Library, where we can choose a book to share with our parents, and borrow for the week to help us when we learn to read, is one of our favourite areas. | |
| We also like going to the Computer Suite, where we are learning to play games which help us to learn our numbers and count carefully. |
Also we are practising saying the sounds-called phonics-which help us to read and write. We learn them through a programme called "Jolly Phonics" and we do actions with the sounds to help us remember them. Writing our names holding the pencil properly is something most of us are getting better at.
We have had a farmer visit us with his big green tractor and we have been to Trengwainton Gardens for an Autumn Walk. We enjoyed collecting treasures and made a display using them.
One of the things we really like is the Physical Education lessons when we can go in the Hall and have plenty of space to move around and use the apparatus, this helps our balance and co-ordination as we grow and develop.

We hope you have enjoyed finding out about us all in the Reception Class
Goodbye.
